I'm Lynn Cross, and unlike some copy editors, human or otherwise, I hear and respect your voice first. I fix only what isn't working, in keeping with the first rule of copyediting: Do no harm.

AI tools can catch typos and offer a decent first pass. What they can't do is hold your whole manuscript in mind, understand what you are actually trying to argue or evoke, or tell the difference between an error and a deliberate choice. That takes a human editor who's paying close attention, which is what I am. 

My clients include individual authors, students, scholars, and publishers.
